Guidance

Uno Dos Tres Academy believes in assisting children in developing self-control and engaging in socially acceptable behaviors. Adults will model and encourage techniques of discipline that are fair, consistent, and respectful of children and their needs. Guidance is required to ensure order, prevent injury, and to ensure that a child’s behavior is not infringing on the rights of others. We believe it is important to provide a positive and safe space for every child, so that children are respected and they themselves respect the space, feelings, and actions of others.
Guidance Strategies:
Teachers are here to explain to the children what behavior is acceptable and explain the reasons for the limits, doing so in a positive way.
• We focus on the child’s behavior, rather than on the child.
• We give children time to respond to expectations.
• We reinforce and model appropriate behavior.
• We are willing to listen and respond in a fair and supportive manner.
• We anticipate potential difficulties and redirect children if needed.

Discipline

Here at Uno Dos Tres Academy, we believe in respecting every child’s space, property, and action. We utilize supportive and fair discipline techniques that help children acknowledge their behavior, make choices about the solution and be responsible for age-appropriate consequences. We want children to learn to make appropriate choices by themselves and not rely on adults to control their behavior for them. Children at the center are respected as individuals and are shown to respect others. Our teachers use clear, simple statements about what is appropriate, and model the behavior they encourage in children.
